Our Aims

At Acorn Alternative Provision, our aims are to:

  • Close gaps and improve levels in numeracy, literacy, reading and academic confidence, re-engaging young people in learning and equipping them for successful reintegration or transition onto their next stage of learning.
  • Prepare young people for future economic stability and independence with key skills, raised aspirations and increased employability.
  • Support young people to be able to engage and contribute positively with others at home, at school and in society.
  • Equip young people with knowledge and tools to more effectively understand, regulate and communicate their emotions, and their emotional responses to situations.
  • Help young people develop positive patterns of thinking, reasoning and decision making, especially when faced with challenging life situations.
  • Grow young people’s ability to develop and maintain positive, healthy and secure relationships with family, peers and other key adults.
  • Increase young people’s understanding of how faith and belief can impact and transform a world view and self-view.
